14/05/06 Updated information!

I must talk about this one because it's a very solid and serious(no-adds, no spam) social bookmark manager. Everything works in all my browsers, Safari included. If you've had a bad experience try this.

When I first saw Netvouz homepage, read that entry paragraph, I thought: So what?
All other social bookmarks offer the same...

but one day someone wrote this:

Thanks for the tip! Had never heard of netvouz before, but I also signed up and find it’s a great service. I liked a lot that I can use both tags and folders to find my bookmarks. And it kept my folder structure when importing. Cool :-)

comment on the Preferred Social Bookmark Manager? poll.

This did it. I don't know. Several people had already commented how good it is before but this seemed spontaneous and honest. Now I think what a pitty that I was put off just because of the design, it just doesn't stand out.

by , hasn't got anything outstandingly different (yet!), it's just damn good and solid!
You can feel that all the features are worked in to it's detail...

How to explain? Look:

's pages.

Actual Features
Bookmark:

The bookmarks in blue are public bookmarks you share. Green for private(see in image ➈) Both with an 'open in new window' and 'copy bookmark' links beside.
Location:

Shows the bookmark's location, the hierarchical categories/folders in a crumb. This does not show when inside a folder as it's all the same and it's shown above in the big crumb.
Tags:

A list of the bookmark's assigned tags, always automatically converted to lower case.
Other users:

Shows how many users have the same bookmark. Clicking on it leads you to a page showing a list of bookmarks with each: the user name, it's location and used tags. Useful to find similar people, see also under Sidebar.
Crumb:

Shows you where you are:
categories > category / tag+tag. Usefull for jumping sub categories.
Hotpicks:

A quick access to some bookmarks not related to it's original location, but if you delete the original it will also disappear.
Tools:

From left to right: Switch to edit mode ➈, Add bookmark, Tools(leads to bookmarklets, Linkroll, Add 2 Netvouz subscribe button), Settings(password, homepage...), More Tasks(arrange/add categories and hotpics)
Update: This has changed, it now uses a drop down menu to access everywhere with one click.
Sidebar:

It changes depending where you are:
- On a category page: A search box and a list of all the tags. see ➉
- On search results or a tag page: Selected tags: '-' to remove the tag, '+' to add or add it to the actual one. Very useful! see ➇ And for both situations, at the very bottom, some statistics showing the total of categories and bookmarks you have.
- On the homepage: Search box, Popular tags, New members and Find members(alphabetically)
Edit mode:

A special mode for editing, let's you select mutiple bookmarks or a categories. With this, moving and tagging a lot of bookmarks is very easy!
Batch edit:star

Let's you batch edit:
- Bookmarks: edit or move bookmarks. Update: using a dropdown menu!
- Tags: batch add/remove to selected bookmarks with spelling suggestion and option to recurse sub-categories.
Categories: Hierarchical categories or folders. That you don't have to use if you don't want to! Or just use one for important stuff you use quite often as for very quick, daily access you have the Hotpicks.
Import:star

This is one of Netvouz's strongest points.
Extracts tags from the folder, bookmark title AND description
+ a bookmark duplicate filter. For Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari, Powermarks 3.5.
Update:
Option to remove default bookmark toolbar folder and/or merge folders.
Import from del.icio.us with tags and description.
Export:

To Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netvouz XML file format and an option to include descriptions.
Update: Exmport from del.icio.us with tags and description.
Views/Displays:

Display options for bookmarks: Show 10, 20, 50 or 100 bookmarks. Sort by Rating, Name or Date - Tag could - Tag table with the number of times each tag is used. - View only private, only public or both bookmarks - New links - Popular links. This also works when getting the RSS link so you can preview the order of your linkrolls.
Update: Now all accessible in one click with a dropdown menu.
Search:

Searches though name, description and tags of each bookmark. Non case sensitive. Boolean search( or, and...). Option to search all members or only your bookmarks.
Bookmarklets:

Not only does it enter the selected text in the description area but it also extracts a list of suggested tags from it! This is very handy, most of the time I find easyer to edit(paste) the URL than to write new tags. If you forget to select some text, re-clicking on the bookmarklet updates the information and also the suggested tags. For the installation, as it has a browser detector, you'll only see the compatible bookmarklets. for IE, Mozilla/Firefox, Opera and Safari.
Link validator:

An automatic broken link detector.
Update: Broken link manager added. Divides your broken links into three categories: confirmed broken, unreachable (could not locate the URL) and doubtful (could contact the site but the response was bad). Manage broken links with a single click or display and process them one by one.
RSS:

RSS button at the botton of every page. + RSS, JavaScript and HTML feeds for Linkrolls with options. Show descripton, tags, date...
Blog button: Add to Netvouz button code for different blogs, like the ones you see in the footer.
Update: Now also has a button you can hotlink.
Delete:

Update: New Feature! Possibility to delete cookies, bookmarks and/or account. These are a must!

For editing: After you've selected all the bookmarks you want. ->
You can batch move them or...
(File icons for folders and check boxes for bookmarks.)

<- ... batch edit them! Notice the batch add/remove tags at the top?

There's not much 3rd party add-ons yet apart from Antoine Khater's , a script: Copy from Delicious2Netvouz and soon, a toolbar:

First Netvouz Toolbar prototype...in the world! :-p

Some upcoming features:

It's n°1 in roxomantic's blog icon roxomatic's poll and n°2 at Quimble!

Hum... Did I mention that I switched to ? ;-b
The more I use it, the more I like it. Just try it!

Thank you! But you don't seem to understand: Your import,'mono-chronize', with all that automatic tagging is so usefull!

Thank you to you!

Automatic tagging? So I can upload my bookmarks and Netvouz will automatically tag all of them, or do I misunderstand?
Blogger ycc2106
Yup! It's the best I've seen, it's realy worth it.
If you go for a try, tell us/me what you think.
